This spring I was lucky to Design Costumes for the Cincinnati Opera's outreach program. They did an abridged and kid friendly version of Motzart's 'The Magic Flute.'
This is the Queen of the night and her evil henchman, Monostatos, or as the actor called himself, "My nasty toes"
I'm almost positive you've heard the Queen's aria. [link] << It's a youtube video of it.
Basically she's telling her daughter to Kill someone and if she refuses or disobeys there will be hell to pay.
Monostatos' character is basically a horrible beast of a man. He's a con artist and a rapist in the actual Opera. In our kid friendly version he has a crush on the Queens daughter and is Flamboyantly ridiculous and nerdy, and referred to as "Elton John's Evil twin."
